Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
