Close to 25,000 Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Approximately 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland found themselves without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the area, bringing wind gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact
Locals reported giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by significant hail.

Utility workers were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the extensive power failures.
Victorian Storm Challenges
At the same time, around one thousand residents in Victoria also experienced power outages after the capital city experienced its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred emergency reports across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and flooding.

- Werribee - recorded considerable weather impact
- Hoppers Crossing area - various assistance requests
- Wyndham area - 179 emergency requests
At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 power users in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this week as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across various areas of both states.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to significant health impacts in the state.
